Well, I have now sent an email out to all of the people who are officially invited to stay in the main accommodation at Pentre Bach. So please check your emails and get back to us!

Accommodation reminder - 22/12/10 - 10:01am

Hello all!!

This is just a reminder to those of you that won't be staying at the main big house/cottages (Pentre Bach). If you know you are coming, it's time to start thinking about accommodation. Llwyngrwyl in a very small place so accommodation is booking up fast!

So who is staying in the main house/cottages? Mainly, this is for immediate family and wedding party. However, there are a few other spaces (mainly single beds) so please let us know if you are interested. We will be emailing everyone who is staying in the house to confirm at some point in the next couple of weeks.

Plas Y Nant cottages(the ones right next to the main site): There are only 2 left! We have them pencilled in at the moment but in order to hold them from 1st Jan a deposit will need to be made. Please contact us NOW if you are wanting to stay there. Link is on the Where to Stay tab. There is a 4 bed one (double room and bunk bed), and a 6 bed one (double room, and double+ bunk beds).

The local b&b will also book up very quickly! So the theme of this post? The B&b only requires a £15 pp deposit.  Start booking!

thanks for the RSVP's - 10/12/10 - 11:14pm

Hello all. Thanks for those of you whoe have sent in your RSVP's (ie. filled out the form on here). Just waiting on a few more:)

Otherwise, the planning is going fairly well. We have confirmed a Capri Marquee which will be set up in the field behind the house. It's a pretty casual style tent that will fit well with the picnic/garden party theme.

We have decided not to get any flooring , so it will be just grass. This means, we highly discourage the wearing of highheels. Flats it is! Or wellies would work well :) If you have a special pair of heels to wear you can always wear them to the ceremony and then change:)

So we have a ceremony and reception venue. Now just to sort out the food and decorations! If any of you would like to try your hand at making decorations, may I recommend crochet or fabric flowers, or fabric bunting!

weatherproofing and RSVPing - 08/10/10 - 6:33pm

Hello all! Firstly, thank you to those of you who have RSVP'd already (who are likely to be those that will read this blog!). For those of you who haven' it as soon as you can please! Knowing the numbers will go a long way in helping us in our current decisions. The biggest one of late is the usual, 'What if it rains?!'. My newest solution that we our looking into is a Yurt. If you don't know what that is, look it up! The coolest Mangolian wooden alternates to a marquee...

Other than that, Mel is busily experimenting with differ DIY wedding crafts, with the most exciting one being pinwheels! :)

Invites are out - 18/09/10 - 8:30pm

Well, all of the invitations have been sent. We have registered the marriage at the local office... (and no one claimed we were related...bonus!). The railway is booked for the ceremony and the main accommodation and reception venue is all booked. Things are moving along! So if everyone can get RSVP'ing as soon as they know that will help us greatly in planning the next things.

Meanwhile, Mel has converted the small second room into a craft room and has plans for a a very DIY wedding look!  Stay tuned for hints into how :)

Invitations are almost ready! - 08/08/10 - 10:04am

At last, we have chosen and venue and a date! We are getting married in mid Wales, at the southern tip of Snowdonia National Park. It's right on the coast in a tiny little village. It's quiet, beautiful, and the owners and locals all seem very friendly with their Welsh accents. Invitations will be going out very shortly as soon as we meet with the local register office to get the date confirmed.

The house and cottages can accommodate 30+ people. This will likely be mostly immediate family and wedding party, but please do let us know if you are interested in staying at the house. It will be rented for a full week from 3-10th June, 2011. I will put details up of other accommodation nearby for any numbers over 30.

Check it out. and the narrow railway that we are taking to the ceremony can be seen at

Indecisiveness over---we hope - 16/05/10 - 8:57am

Hello all,

Well, we have finally decided that our wedding will take place somewhere in the UK, between the dates of 3-11th June. This is a Friday-Sat range as some accommodation starts Fri, some Sat and our venue will likely be at this accommodation . The wedding itself will likely be the Sunday or Monday, but it depends on what is available so we are keeping this open.

We have a short list of venues at the moment, all located in South Wales. My favourite is Penrice Castle, which is near the beach, has lots of cottages, a ruined castle and will set up Marquees if that's what we decide we want. The nice thing is that is has enough spaces in cottages for approx 50 people which means we can all stay together!

Until the venue is decided, all of the other decisions are quite difficult to make. So we are heading over to Wales in the first week of July to check them out. Will keep ya posted!

PS- Save the Date cards will be in the post asap!
